Chris Smith matters

Chris Smith is a resident of Toronto's Jane and Finch neighbourhood. His mother, Rebecca, an immigrant from Jamaica reached out to us about helping him go to science summer camp. Throughout grade three, Chris showed an advanced knowledge of the sciences and an overall curiosity about the world around him. Through donations to our 2016 Black Boys Matter campaign we were able to send Chris to the Ontario Science Centre's science summer camp for kids. Black Boys like Chris matter.

Vladimir Bien-Aimé matters

Vladimir Bien-Aimé moved to Ottawa, Canada from his native Haiti with his parents and three siblings. Although his first passion is soccer, he's shown a passion and aptitude for coding and technology. He expressed a desire to get into a coding program for kids to learn more about tech.  Through donations our 2015 Black Boys Matter campaign we were able to send him to a coding program for kids at Shopify's headquarters in Ottawa where he also learn how to setup an online store. His dream is to set up an online store selling crafts from his native Haiti and donate a percentage of the proceeds back to helping kids in his home country. Black boys like Vladimir matter.

Emmanuel and Deji matter

Brothers Emmanuel and Deji were born in Nigeria but came to Canada at a very early age. Charismatic and highly entertaining, their parents knew from early on that they were born performers. Through donations to our 2016 campaign, we helped the Onobolu family put Emmanuel and Deji in dance school. Today they have begun to enter and win competitions with their team.
