  • Why Black Boys Matter

Black Boys Matter is a ground breaking campaign by the Canadian Council for Black Advancement (CCBA) geared towards helping our boys grow into well-rounded men. While in recent years many efforts have been made to impact the lives of black girls through various programs, including Black Girls Rock and Black Girls Code, little has been done to prepare black boys for the future.

Leading up to our big Black Boys Matter event on October 13, 2017 we'll be seeking donations to help impact the lives of black boys in our community.

    Emmanuel and Deji matter

Brothers Emmanuel and Deji were born in Nigeria but came to Canada at a very early age. Charismatic and highly entertaining, their parents knew from early on that they were born performers. Through donations to our 2016 campaign, we helped the Onobolu family put Emmanuel and Deji in dance school. Today they have begun to enter and win competitions with their team. Black boys like Emmanuel and Deji matter.
